Kali is a time-honored art from the Philippines. Taught in secret to defend themselves from Spanish conquistadors, the native Filipinos developed a highly skilled weapons-based system that rivaled any European power of the time. Practitioners of the art learn to be proficient within twelve areas. Some areas include long-range weapons (staff), medium-range weapons (sword or stick), and short-range weapons (dagger).

Kali is considered one of the most comprehensive martial arts. Even though it is known for its sophisticated weaponry, it also has highly effective empty hand and grappling techniques.
Students training in the Kali program will experience an increase in eye-hand coordination and reflexes, while developing practical self-defense skills. The Kali curriculum at TSMAA follows the teaching methodologies of Guro Dan Inosanto, considered the world's leading authority on the Filipino Martial Arts. |
